Why does the design process have to be so complicated…or at least appear to be complicated? Before I started JM Studios, I asked myself that question over and over again. I didn’t like seeing clients kept at arms length so that we designers could work our “magic.” The approach I take with any design project I work on isn’t complicated…or even extremely innovative for that matter. And maybe that’s why it’s so effective. It’s a simple, four-step process.

First: I talk with you and, more importantly, really listen to what you have to say.

Second: I take the information from this conversation and brainstorm a variety of different approaches and solutions.

Third: I share these concepts and absolutely demand that honest feedback be provided. Now isn’t the time to worry about feelings getting hurt. It’s the time to make sure that your vision has been captured.

Fourth: I take the feedback and refine the concepts so that the end product is exactly what you had hoped for…and even better.
